what happened to the 150 wall balls?

    • Admin says:

Tonight at 6:30 PM Greg is coaching “Karen”—150 Wallball shots for time!!

      Colin

      • Matt says:

I just went to the crossfit website to see what a good karen time would be. I didn’t find a video of karen but I did find Karabella which is Isabella and Karen combined. 10 rounds of 15 wall balls and 3 overhead barbell snatches. he finished in 15:27. Looked like he had a good time.

    • Steve says:

That is the 6:30 “Beekeeper” class

  2. Sapp 6 says:

Thats “El Diablo” people……have fun with the wall ball shots. I will be grocery shopping and unfortunately preparing my house for the dreaded in-law visit. Be back in the game tomorrow. Good thing my wife doesnt read this thing! MUHAHAHAHAHA…..I laugh diabolically!

  3. Nikki says:

Greg – You are in big trouble when you get home. I may spank you for a comment like that.

  4. DieZel says:

Paleo Challenge? Count me out! No diets for me, it is against my philosophy of life.

And did I miss a photo and video shoot yesterday? Better not! I NEED to be in more SKB photos and videos.

Sapp – good luck with your family visit!

Admin – you need to create a Dawn workout.

    • Sapp 6 says:

Come on…..its only a month. You can do it, we are all here for support!

You did miss the video/photo shoot last night. We all missed the Dr. DieZel, because if you were there none of us would have been in the video. It would have been Dawn breaking out like the nasty girls video.

Thanks for the luck, I will need it. Hopefully no one cries this time around. Hehehehehe

      • DieZel says:

Exactly, it is only a month and not sustainable. What am I never going to eat bread, chocolate pudding or drink beer ever again? Diets make no sense to me personally…but I look forward to seeing how it goes for everyone else!

Nasty girls crossfit video coming to a town near you….

And I don’t think Nikki reads the blog, I think someone pranked you. Unfortunately, you are not getting spanked tonight….

        • Christian says:

You’re right “diets” make no sense. The idea of a “diet” goes against the semantic of the word itself.

If you’re only follow a diet for a certain amount of time until you achieve a goal… and then go back to having a poor diet. It doesn’t really make sense. The right idea would be to change your diet, not GO on a diet.

That said, it’s really not that hard once you get used to living with a strict diet. The smart thing to do is live with a strict diet, and give yourself one cheat day a week. On that cheat day go hog wild and eat whatever, at whatever quantity you want. Then make up for it the rest of the week with burpees and a normal diet.

Diet wisdom from me is now over, sorry for the rant.

Plus… chocolate pudding is for children (or total wussies). You’re not a wussy are you?

          Burpees GO!!!!!

  5. Amy says:

Ok, so here’s my two cents, and it’s probably worth less but here goes!
I HATE to diet! Most have you have had to listen to my endless ranting about how only 1 short year ago I could eat what ever I wanted and never gained weight…. Man I miss those days!
The past 8 months at SKB have been enlightening. I thought when I joined that I would be back in my skinny pants in no time by eating “right” and coming to class but that was not the case. Instead my body has changed and become leaner but much more muscular and healthy! I am finally accepting that this is who I am “healthy” and that’s thanks to Colin and all of my supportive SKB buddies! (Oh and you too honey!)
So to me the Paleo “Challenge” is just that! A Challenge! I want to challenge myself to eat healthier for a whole month and reap the benefits of achieving that goal! Who knows! If all the hype is true about eating this way (Princess ;) ) and I feel great hopefully I will continue on with this new “way of life” and no longer “diet” and I will continue to get “stronger” (yes Colin I said it!) and healthier and happier!
Truth be told, Dr DieZel, you are right, Christian is right, everyone if right if they are happy and healthy! SKB makes you healthy so if you are balancing your eating habits with exercise and are maintaining your happiness then that’s all that matters!
    The End :)

    • DieZel says:

Amen! Be happy with the body you were born with!

      • Amy says:

DieZel why can’t I see your pretty face anymore??? A gray silhouette person does not suit you!

      • Christian says:

I can make this analogy… we’re all born with a sportscar, so it’s up to you to treat it right. Some of us change the oil religiously, keep the engine tuned up, and really take care of it. Other people drive it to the ground and treat it like it’s worthless and replaceable.

    • Steve says:

Well said! Each diet we have tried we wanted to see what we could learn from it. For example, from the Zone, we learned quite a bit about portion control, insulin control, and the difference between “good” and “bad” carbs. We also figured out that life goes on without pasta (something I used to eat twice/three times a week).
We are looking at paleo the same way. Eat that way for a month, take what you learn and apply it for life. I can tell you right now, I’m not giving up cheese for life, nor is mighty mouse. But I can go without for a month, and then slowly work it back in and see what effect it has.
Plus it gives me one more thing to harass Sapp about at work!!

      • Christian says:

Totally agree on all fronts. It took me years to find the way of eating that worked for me. For me it’s a 40/40/20 splilt of Lean Protein, “Good” carbs (wheat pasta is not a bad thing now and then), and “good” fats (mmm peanut butter). Everyone’s body is different, so trying different systems out is very smart, and applying different methods from what you learn is brilliant. Zone is great, Paleo is great, i’m sure there are many more.

But for those that don’t want to deal with “diets” or thinking much about what to eat, here are two great rules of thumb.

It’s all about portion control, and exercise. The largest trick to a good diet any individual should have is portion control. It’s amazing the quantities normal people eat on a regular basis. Second trick of course is exercise, everyone should to some degree exercise (i don’t mean just walking, walking isn’t exercise).

  6. Jeanette says:

    Hey all…
Can someone clue me in to this Paleo diet and what it entails…not sure if I would like to try it or not…..

  7. Sapp 6 says:

If caveman couldnt eat it, then you cant eat it.

  8. DieZel says:

Sapp – You mean “cavepeople.” Don’t be sexist – keep your eyes on the baseboards!

I agree Christian, it is all about moderation, portion control and physical activity – of any kind. To me, there is no such thing as good or bad foods. I can have cookies and fast food, as long as I don’t eat the whole bag in one sitting or supersize my happy meal. All foods fit into my way of life, including chocolate pudding! Once you try it, you never go back.

Where is today’s workout? I am sick of talking about diets. If I wanted to talk this much about diets I would be reading Cosmo Magazine.

    • Christian says:

I don’t know… i think there are some very bad foods out there in the world. I’m amazed at what companies are allowed to sell and pass off as food. Don’t get me started on that though LOL.

Partially Hydrogenated Oils should be criminalized, seriously. I get disgusted at what the government allows companies to put out for ignorant consumers. I feel bad for our citizens that don’t know any better, those foods are literally poison.

Ok, now Hulk has gotten upset and worked up!!! I’m at work right now, but am going to rip my shirt off and bust out some burpees GO!!!

  9. Kiarna says:

I’d add it’s helpful to keep a food journal when doing this type of restrictive diet. Many people have food allergies they are not aware of that become a bit more obvious on these limited food programs. You may feel hugely better and be able to relate it to something you cut out or you maybe eating too much of something to compensate for a regular food item.

It’s not uncommon to have detox symptoms as well, though some health researchers are questioning what exactly that means.

The biggest mistake people make when on the paleo or raw food vegan version is going overboard with fruits. Modern fruit is much sweeter than its ancient relatives due to selective breeding. Your digestive track will not thank you for over eating (remember what prunes with all that fiber are good for?).

Vegetarians might want to check out the raw vegan diet as an alternative to the paleo. Same basic premise.
